VALLEJO, Calif. – Sophomore guard Marissa Serrano finished Saturday's Cal Pac Conference game at PEAC Main Gym with a season-high 14 points, on 6 of 11 shooting, and junior forward Alicia Porter led all Keelhaulers with 18 points in a game that started with a quarter-long defensive showdown versus Saint Katherine.
In the first 10 minutes of action, the Keelhaulers and Firebirds shot 23 and 19 percent from the floor, respectively, which led to a 13-6 score in favor of the visitors.
Even though Cal Maritime posted higher shooting figures than Saint Katherine in the second (46 pct. vs. 43 pct.) and third quarters (50 pct. vs. 38 pct.), the Firebirds pulled away in the latter portion of the contest to collect an 80-45 win.
In addition to posting a team-high scoring total, Porter also notched her second double-double in as many games, thanks to her team-high 13 rebounds.
Dylan Fulton also enjoyed a strong night in the paint by snaring 10 boards and blocking two shots.
With Saturday's results, Cal Maritime is 0-10 overall and 0-2 in league play. Saint Katherine will return to Southern California at 9-6 and 1-1.
