Historic performance leads to Player of the Week honors for Alicia Porter
CASTRO VALLEY, Calif. – Following her record-setting performance at Pacific Union, league officials rewarded junior forward Alicia Porter by selecting her as the Cal Pac Women's Basketball Player of the Week, as announced on Monday.
The conference's selection took place just under 24 hours following Porter's attention-grabbing final stats when the Keelhaulers faced Pacific Union in their first league road game of the season. In that rivalry matchup, the native of Simi Valley, California, scored 43 points and collected 26 rebounds — a new Cal Pac single-game rebound record and the fourth-largest single-game points total in conference history.
Both totals are the highest in the program's recorded history and marks the third double-double posted by Porter in as many games.
Singlehandedly responsible for 60 percent of her team's offense and 46 percent of its rebounds, Porter's historic performance led to women's basketball's first overall and Cal Pac victory of the season.
The Keelhaulers will head to UC Merced for Thursday's 5:30 p.m. conference matchup before returning to Vallejo for its season-ending three-game homestand, which starts on Saturday, at 5:30 p.m., versus Simpson. Women's basketball will welcome UC Merced (Feb. 8) and Pacific Union (Feb. 12) before ending the season with three straight road games.
