Spectators will be required to stay separated from athletes, coaches, and game staff after those individuals have been cleared through the pre-competition screening process. Arrival times and entrances for competitors and spectators will be designated and separated to provide physical distancing.

SPECTATORS MUST WEAR A MASK AT ALL TIMES INSIDE PEAC

  • Unvaccinated individuals are required to always wear a mask while on campus.
  • Everyone MUST wear face coverings inside all campus buildings unless they are alone.

VALLEJO, Calif. – Following last Sunday's victory at Pacific Union, one that led to national attention for Alicia Porter after her 43-point, 26-rebound performance, Cal Maritime climbed to second place in the Cal Pac North Division standings with a week full of important league matchups on tap for the Keelhaulers.

In addition to earning Player of the Week honors from league officials, the NAIA also selected Porter for its Player of the Week award.

Starting with Thursday's road game, women's basketball will face UC Merced twice within a six-day timespan — matchups that can help the team continue its climb up the standings since the Bobcats currently sit in first place with an undefeated 3-0 conference mark.

When Cal Maritime returns from Merced Thursday night, its next three games will take place inside PEAC Main Gym during the final homestand of the season. What starts on Saturday versus Simpson continues with the Bobcats on Tuesday and concludes with next Saturday's home finale against PUC.

Before the Keelhaulers look ahead to the final weeks of the season, they need to take momentum generated from that victory in Angwin and carry it over to this week's slate of games — important matchups that will play a key role in every team's potential postseason berth.

Only the Cal Pac's top six teams will advance to the year-end tournament, slated for February 27-March 1 in Vallejo.

Entering the week as one of only two league teams with an undefeated Cal Pac record, the Bobcats will compete for the first time since January 22 since its last three scheduled games, all against teams from the conference's Arizona division — Embry-Riddle, Park Gilbert and Benedictine Mesa — were postponed due to COVID protocols.

Prior to those postponements, the Bobcats won three straight following its first set of cancelled/postponed games at home against La Sierra, Antelope Valley, and at Simpson.

Tuesday's game is UC Merced's second visit to PEAC Main Gym this season as it faced Oregon Tech in the opening game of Cal Maritime's pre-holiday tournament, the Keelhauler Classic. In that tournament opener, the Owls hung on for a 45-36 victory.

As is the case with the Bobcats, Simpson will face Cal Maritime twice within a short timespan as the return game is slated to take place in Redding on February 16 — 11 days after the Keelhaulers host the Red Hawks.

Before heading to Cal Maritime, Simpson will host Pacific Union on Thursday.

In their last game, which took place at Embry-Riddle on January 29, the Red Hawks snapped an eight-game slide, that started on December 7 at Menlo College, with a three-point victory over the Eagles. In fairness to SU, of the 12 games that took place after its loss to the Oaks, five were either canceled or postponed.

Following their return game at Simpson, the Keelhaulers will end the season in Southern California with the final games of the regular season taking place at La Sierra and Antelope Valley on February 19 and 21.
