VALLEJO, Calif. – With three games remaining in Cal Maritime's regular season, the Keelhaulers will complete that slate of games on the road starting with Wednesday's North Division matchup at Simpson University. Tipoff in Redding is set for 5:30 p.m.
Once women's basketball returns to campus, it will have one day to recover and prep before heading to Southern California for a pair of weekend games at La Sierra (Saturday, 6:30 p.m.) and Antelope Valley (Monday, 5:30 p.m.). Live stats and video stream links for all three games are available above and by visiting the team's schedule page on GoKeelhaulers.com.
The team's season-ending road swing will start against a Red Hawks squad that saw its five-game win streak end last Saturday at Westcliff. This matchup against the Keelhaulers is the first of two games in as many days for Simpson since its final homestand of the season will conclude on Thursday against Lincoln University.
Even though the Red Hawks won nine of the last 12 head-to-head meetings, the Keelhaulers departed Redding with a 60-56 victory in its last road game vs. the Red Hawks in a matchup that took place on January 4, 2020.
The team's trip through Southern California starts on Saturday at La Sierra, a team that enters the final week of the season in the middle of its season-ending seven-game homestand, which started with a hat trick of victories versus the Cal Pac's Arizona-based schools.
Two days before the Keelhaulers visit, the Golden Eagles will host Saint Katherine; Pacific Union will visit two days after their game against Cal Maritime.
Even though La Sierra holds a 13-4 advantage all-time against the Keelhaulers, a situation like the one against Simpson exists: The other team won two of the last three head-to-head contests.
Cal Maritime's last victory versus the Golden Eagles took place on January 31, 2019, in Vallejo. Since La Sierra is battling for a berth in the league's postseason tournament, the Keelhaulers can play the role of spoilers with a similar result on Saturday.
The Keelhaulers will look to end the 2021-22 regular season on a positive note when it visits Antelope Valley on Monday; a victory will also give the Keelhaulers their first against the Pioneers since they won the last eight straight.
It has been a tale of two seasons for the Pioneers throughout the season since they earned four of their five overall victories inside the Pioneer Event Center and collected only one victory in their nine road games.
Expect a high-scoring affair when these teams meet since two of the Cal Pac's top individual scorers will square-off in this season finale. Junior forward Alicia Porter is currently ranked third with her 15.5 points per game average (her 10.2 rebounds per game figure is the best among all conference players); Antelope Valley junior guard Krystin Allen's 14.5 ppg average is the fifth-highest in the league.
