Porter’s 33 points paces Keelhaulers against Lincoln (CA)

VALLEJO, Calif. – In a non-conference game that was closer than the final score indicated, Cal Maritime erased a 13-point deficit with just under nine minutes remaining in Wednesday's game vs. Lincoln (CA), at PEAC Main Gym, when Anika Carey scored two of her eight points on a layup. From that point on, it was two-possession game until the visiting Oaklanders made their free throws, throughout the final 82 seconds of action, to pull away and defeat the Keelhaulers, 75-65.

For the second time in as many games, Alicia Porter posted a double-double with 33 points, on 12 of 24 shooting, and 17 rebounds, both game highs. Combined with Carey and Dylan Fulton's 12 boards each, CSUM dominated the glass and outrebounded the Oaklanders, 52-43 overall and 44-29 on defense.

Those 12 rebounds are a career high for Carey and a season high for Fulton, who fell one shy of matching her career-best total.

Wednesday's result pushes CSUM's overall record to 0-2 and improves Lincoln's mark to 1-2.

Women's basketball's season-opening six-game homestand will continue next Wednesday, November 16, with a 5:30 p.m. exhibition against Holy Names. That matchup is the first Gold Game of the season involving The Watch — Cal Maritime's new student-organized support squad.
