Historic performance leads to Cal Pac Player of the Week honors for Alicia Porter
VALLEJO, Calif. — Another historic evening in Angwin led to Cal Pac Player of the Week honors for Alicia Porter when the Cal Pac Conference announced its women's basketball award selection on Monday. This is the second time the junior guard/forward received the conference's top weekly honor following last season's record-setting performance at Pacific Union.
in this season's inaugural rivalry game against the Pioneers, Porter scored 41 points, the fourth-highest single-game total in Cal Pac history. By finishing with a game-high 12 rebounds, she posted her fifth double-double of the year through the Keelhaulers' first seven games.
Entering the third week of Cal Pac action, the junior guard/forward leads the league in scoring at 29.3 ppg (the NAIA's No. 2 average) and ranks second in rebounds per game with her 12.4 figure (No. 8 among all NAIA players) — 0.3 rpg behind the league's top spot.
Porter has been the Pioneers' biggest nemesis in recent seasons: When these teams meet inside Covered Wagon last season, she finished with an attention-grabbing double-double of 43 points and 26 rebounds, new career highs in each category. Her 26 boards are the Cal Pac's new all-time single-game record.
Thanks to last year's scoring outburst and this season's points total in respective road games at PUC, Porter is responsible for two of the league's top four all-time single-game records.
