VALLEJO, Calif. – Cal Maritime's six-game road swing will continue this (extended) weekend when it heads to Arizona to face three opponents within a four-day timespan. This trip through Arizona will commence on Thursday with a 4 p.m. PT Cal Pac matchup at Benedictine Mesa, continue the following day with a 4:30 p.m. PT league tilt at Park Gilbert, and conclude with Sunday's 1 p.m. PT conference contest at Embry-Riddle.

Please note the tip times listed at PT above since all three games will take place at locations based in the Mountain Time Zone, which is one hour ahead of Vallejo and other West Coast locations.

Even though Benedictine Mesa sports a 4-9 overall record, the team's last two games ended with a win versus non-conference competition. Thursday's game is the first conference event for the Redhawks since their December 17 road event against Park Gilbert, the Keelhaulers' next opponent on this (extended) weekend-long trip.

Ben U's game against the Buccaneers also ended with a win, the team's first against a Cal Pac opponent this season. Prior to that game, the Redhawks lost at home against La Sierra, Antelope Valley, at UC Merced and at Simpson.

Home sweet home is a phrase that has not applied to Benedictine Mesa so far this season since it lost all three games played on its own court; all four victories took place outside of Mesa.

By comparison, Park Gilbert's two wins were earned at home in its November 2 season opener vs. SAGU-American Indian University and Ottawa University-Arizona 10 days later.

Following that home result against OUAZ, the Buccaneers lost their next nine straight, a streak that extended to its current length following a pair of tournament losses at the Warner Basketball Classic, hosted by Warner University in Lake Wales, Florida, suffered against the home team on December 30 and Ave Maria University the next morning.

Prior to facing the Keelhaulers, Park Gilbert will head to Embry-Riddle on January 3 before opening a four-game homestand on January 5 against Pacific Union.

As is the case with Cal Maritime and its matchup at Benedictine Mesa, Park Gilbert will play back-to-back games in as many days.

The Keelhaulers will enjoy a well-deserved day off on Saturday, before returning to action at Embry-Riddle, and capping a busy weekend of basketball the following afternoon.

The Eagles opened their conference schedule in late November with a win at Benedictine Mesa, then ended that road swing with a pair of losses at UC Merced and Simpson. It's December 8 overtime home win vs. La Sierra took place the day before ERAU topped Antelope Valley by 13.

The December portion of its season-long eight-game homestand ended with a loss against Hastings; the Eagles' two-week holiday hiatus will end with their January 3 meeting against Park Gilbert. Pacific Union will visit Prescott before the Keelhaulers tip inside the ERAU Activity Center two days later.

Once women's basketball returns home on Sunday, only two more road games remain before it competes inside PEAC Main Gym for the first time in 2023. The team's inaugural Southern California road trip of the season includes stops at La Sierra (Jan. 12) and Antelope Valley (Jan. 14); its inaugural home game of the new year is slated for January 19 against Simpson.
