RIVERSIDE, Calif. – Kai Kraus scored six of her season-high 15 points during the opening minutes of Thursday's Cal Pac Conference game at Alumni Pavilion by connecting from three on consecutive possessions to give Cal Maritime an early 6-2 lead.
That helped the Keelhaulers hold a 17-14 lead after the first quarter; even though the Golden Eagles scored four more points than CSUM in the second quarter, they only led by one at the break.
La Sierra's 24-point outburst in the third quarter became the difference in the first of two head-to-head matchups this season as the Keelhaulers were limited to 10 points that period and ultimately fell to the Golden Eagles, 54-76.
Cal Maritime will enter Saturday's 2 p.m. matchup at Antelope Valley, the last of six road games in a row, with a 1-12 overall and 1-8 league record. La Sierra will continue its first homestand of the season at 5-11 and 5-4.
Alicia Porter ended her night with 18 points and 10 rebounds, both team highs.
