VALLEJO, Calif. – Women's basketball's upcoming four-game homestand will commence this weekend when it hosts rival Pacific Union in Saturday's 6:30 p.m. Cal Pac Conference matchup. Please note the 6:30 p.m. tip time since this is one hour later than the typical start for a women's basketball game versus a league opponent.
When they enter PEAC Main Gym the Keelhaulers will face an opportunity to secure a season sweep against its conference rivals from Angwin after defeating the Pioneers inside Covered Wagon, 87-86, in the series opener that took place on December 8.
Trailing by five with 1:48 remaining that night, Cal Maritime ended its inaugural road game of the season on an 11-5 run, which included a three-pointer from Kai Kraus that snapped an 83-83 tied score against Pacific Union and gave the visiting Keelhaulers the lead for good.
Alicia Porter led all players with 41 points, by hitting 15 of 24 shots from the floor; by collecting a game-high 12 rebounds, she posted her fifth double-double of the season.
Since that matchup, Porter posted another eight double-doubles.
Dylan Fulton also turned in an attention-grabbing performance at PUC by ending her evening with 21 points and eight rebounds; Marissa Serrano chipped in another 10 points, Anika Carey recorded the second double-figure rebound total of her Keelhauler career with 10 and including her clutch three late in the game, Kraus recorded nine points.
With victories in four of the last seven played against the Pioneers, women's basketball will sweep the season series for the first time in recorded history with a win in the first of four straight home games against Cal Pac opponents.
Embry-Riddle, Benedictine Mesa and Park Gilbert are slated to face the Keelhaulers next Thursday, Friday and Sunday, respectively. All three of those games will tip at 5:30 p.m.
