Porter pulls closer to scoring milestone

VALLEJO, Calif. – Entering Friday's Cal Pac Conference game against Benedictine Mesa, Cal Maritime forward Alicia Porter needed 47 points to reach the 1,000-point milestone and become the third Keelhauler in the program's recorded history to accomplish this feat.

By finishing with 23 points in addition to 11 rebounds, both game-high figures, Porter pulled herself within striking distance with one game remaining in women's basketball's current homestand: Sunday's 5:30 p.m. contest against Park Gilbert.

When the Keelhaulers return to action, basketball fans will face an opportunity to witness history firsthand since she needs 24 points to join her program's elite list of scorers — a realistic situation since she will enter CSUM's upcoming game averaging a league-high 25.5 points per game.

Marissa Serrano scored a season-high 15 points and Dylan Fulton chipped in another 12 in a game visiting Benedictine Mesa won by a 94-53 score.

With this result, Cal Maritime falls to 2-17 overall and 2-13 against Cal Pac opposition; the Redhawks will return home with records of 11-12 and 8-8.
