OAKLAND, Calif. – Trailing by one after the first quarter of Tuesday's neutral-site season opener vs. Lincoln (CA) at Laney College, the designated home team Oaklanders starting hitting shots from three and connected on 7 of 10 attempts from the free throw line — by comparison, the Keelhaulers did not record an attempt throughout that period — to create a double-digit advantage they held for the rest of the night to record an 84-55 in Lincoln's inaugural "home" game.
Cal Maritime will return to the court on Saturday, November 18, when it hosts Oregon Tech and will enter that matchup with a 0-1 overall record. Tipoff for the Keelhaulers' home opener is set for 6 p.m. inside PEAC Main Gym.
Led by Alicia Porter with 21, three Keelhaulers scored double figures in their first game of the 2023-24 season. Marissa Serrano and Anika Carey each chipped in 10.
Porter ended the game with a double-double by collecting a game-high 12 rebounds; Aysia Santos earned a team-high seven assists — nearly one-half of the Oaklanders' total of 16.
