VALLEJO, Calif. — Following last Tuesday's neutral-site season opener at Laney College against Lincoln (CA), Cal Maritime's hiatus will end on Saturday when Oregon Tech visits PEAC Main Gym for the first of five straight home games taking place throughout the upcoming weeks for the Keelhaulers.
After reaching the 1,000-career-point milestone late last season — the third cadet-assistant in program history to accomplish this feat — graduate student forward/center Alicia Porter is only 11 points shy from becoming the second-highest scorer in program history since she enters her team's upcoming homestand with 1,116 points.
Alexsis Brown (2009-10, 2011-12) currently occupies the No. 2 spot with 1,126 career points, Lauren Westbrook (2006-10) is responsible for the program's top total by ending her career as a Keelhauler with 1,480 points.
This week's slate includes CSUM's final non-conference matchups before Cal Pac play commenced November 30 against Westcliff. First up for women's basketball is this weekend's 6 p.m. tilt against OIT followed by Wednesday's 2 p.m. matinée, and season finale, vs. Lincoln (CA).
With the first major break of the holiday season arriving, Cal Maritime Athletics will offer free admission to all fans for Wednesday's event inside PEAC Main Gym.
Saturday's game is the home debut for three Keelhaulers: In addition to junior guard Chris Heimann and freshman forward Lexy Wallace, CSUM's matchup against the Owls is the first at home for new head coach Imhotet Amen-Ra.
