VALLEJO, Calif. – Following its lengthy holiday hiatus, women's basketball will return to action on Thursday, January 4, with the first of two Cal Pac matchups scheduled within a three-day timespan.
Unlike most Cal Pac weekends, this week's slate provides a unique challenge for the Keelhaulers since they will leave Vallejo and head to Prescott, Arizona, to face Embry-Riddle on Thursday; this lengthy road trip continues Saturday night in Riverside, California, at La Sierra before everyone returns home for the start of the spring semester on Monday.
For its first set of conference matchups in 2024, the team will cover approximately 1,544 miles throughout this weekend's road trip.
Cal Maritime's last Cal Pac contests took place on December 8 at Simpson; road games at Jessup (December 12) and Pacific (December 20) were scheduled before and after finals week.
Embry-Riddle played three games in as many days throughout its holiday break: a victory versus Montana State Northern was sandwiched between losses against Concordia (NE) and Montana Tech.
The Eagles last game took place against Montana Tech on December 20.
La Sierra competed in only one game since its last Cal Pac game, a loss suffered against Benedictine Mesa on December 9. That lone event took place on December 29 at Cal Lutheran — a Division III institution.
The Golden Eagles will host Pacific Union on Thursday before facing the Keelhaulers two days later. These two games are part of LSU's season-long four-game homestand that continues next week against Westcliff and Saint Katherine.
Cal Maritime's upcoming schedule will keep the team local since its rivalry matchup at Pacific Union is scheduled for Tuesday, January, 9, followed by a neutral-site game at Pacific Union, against Antelope Valley, two days later. The Keelhaulers are the designated home team for that game against the Pioneers in Angwin since U.S. Coast Guard exams are taking place inside PEAC Main Gym that week.
