VALLEJO, Calif. — The second half of Cal Pac competition for Cal Maritime will begin inside PEAC Main Gym Thursday night when the women's basketball hosts Simpson in the final game of the team's current homestand.

The Keelhaulers will remain local for the entire week since their other game will take place at UC Merced Saturday night at 7:30 p.m.

Even though it dropped the first set of head-to-head contests against the Red Hawks and Bobcats, CSUM enters this week's action as one of the more dangerous teams in the conference to face after picking up its first league victory and nearly upsetting the Cal Pac's top team two days later.

Led by Alicia Porter, who is averaging 15.6 points and 10.0 rebounds per game this season, the Keelhaulers are enjoying performances throughout their lineup by players who are starting to step up their game during a crucial part of the season.

In last week's game versus Benedictine Mesa, Dylan Fulton scored a season-high 21 points on an efficient 8 of 13 shooting from the floor. Two days later against Park Gilbert, four Keelhaulers scored double figures led by Anika Carey and her career high 16.

Keep an eye on Aysia Santos throughout the week because she has turned into a consistent scoring threat for first-year head coach Imhotet Amen-Ra this year.   In addition to scoring 10 or more points nine times throughout the season, she is coming off a 14-point effort against the Buccaneers — the second time she posted 14 this season which is one shy of a career high set at home versus Lincoln (CA).

Even though Simpson enters the week in fourth place among all Cal Pac tams, six of its eight losses were suffered away from its home court (including two of its last three road games).

After dropping six straight games, UC Merced rebounded with a sweep of last week's home games against Westcliff and Saint Katherine. The Bobcats' season-long four-game homestand concludes this weekend against Pacific Union and CSUM.
