VALLEJO, Calif. –
After commencing Cal Pac action last weekend at home, Cal Maritime will start its longest league road swing of the year when it heads to Southern California this weekend to face La Sierra Thursday night and Westcliff Saturday afternoon. Even though it will play at home next week against UC Santa Cruz, the next conference game after this weekend will take place at Pacific Union on February 1.

Since athletic facilities are not a part of Westcliff's campus, Saturday's game is taking place at Golden West College, located in Huntington Beach.

After UC Merced edged the Keelhaulers in last Thursday's conference opener, they will head to Riverside to play a LSU team that defeated Westcliff in its lone league game played last week.

Kaydn Mew is the only LSU player averaging double figures this season, scored 11.4 points per game. Six players, including Mew, average five or more points this year for a team that is 5-7 overall.

The Golden Eagles lost three of four games before collecting three victories in as many games played throughout the month of January. However, two originally scheduled games did not take place: home games versus Stanton and a designated non-conference matchup against Pacific Union were postponed and cancelled, respectively.

Westcliff enters the second weekend of its conference schedule on a four-game overall slide after dropping last week's Cal Pac season opener at home vs. La Sierra.

The Warriors will host Pacific Union Thursday night before ending the weekend against Cal Maritime.

Compared to the Keelhaulers, a team ranked second in the Cal Pac in team scoring at 66.5 points per game this season, the Warriors are ranked fifth averaging 53.3 ppg.
