VALLEJO, Calif. — Entering the final two weeks of the season, Cal Maritime will enjoy a huge advantage since all four of its remaining games will take place on its home court, starting with a pair of Cal Pac Conference game versus Westcliff and La Sierra.

Those games will play a huge role in determining which of those three teams, in addition to Pacific Union, will claim the two remaining available spots in the conference's year-end postseason tournament since the first two were claimed by Simpson and UC Merced.

Entering this week's slate, CSUM trails Westcliff, a team that currently sits fourth in the league's standings, by only one win and La Sierra by three wins. Since the Golden Eagles have four games remaining to Cal Maritime's three, LSU will need to lose three times in the next two weeks to lose its grip on a postseason berth.

That makes Thursday's showdown against the Warriors a vital one for each team since the winner will strengthen its grip on securing the final playoff spot, especially with Westcliff and La Sierra facing the Cal Pac's top two teams throughout the final week of the season.

Cal Maritime's mission is straightforward: win to keep its postseason potential alive entering next week's regular-season finale on Senior Night against Pacific Union.

Westcliff will make the arduous trek to Vallejo riding a three-game losing streak after falling to UC Merced, Simpson and La Sierra. The Golden Eagles prevented a three-game losing streak from taking place with that victory vs. the Warriors.

This week's league games are going to come down to the details since these three teams are ranked third through fifth in offense and defense this year. Cal Maritime is fourth in total offense at 55.7 points per game against Cal Pac teams; La Sierra is ranked third and Westcliff is fifth averaging 60.5 and 54.0 ppg, respectively.

Following this block of league games, Lincoln (CA) will visit PEAC Main Gym for the Keelhaulers' final non-conference game of 2024-25. Cal Maritime will face an opportunity to sweep the season series on Tuesday after defeating the Oaklanders last November in a designated road game for CSUM hosted by College of Alameda.
