VALLEJO, Calif. — The final opportunity to watch Cal Maritime in action on its home court in 2025 will take place this weekend when Northwest University visits PEAC Main Gym for Saturday's 6 p.m. non-conference contest. Fans who miss out will have to wait until January 10, 2026, to watch the Keelhaulers compete on campus.
Tamana Sharifi earned Cal Pac Defensive Player of the Week honors earlier this week and is quickly making a name for herself as one of the conference's top players. She enters Cal Maritime's game vs. Northwest ranked No. 1 in total rebounds (73) and defensive rebounds (61), No. 2 in the league with 10.4 rebounds per game, No. 3 in offensive rebounds (12) and No. 5 in points scored (61).
As a team, the Keelhaulers are ranked No. 2 in the league averaging 28.1 defensive rebounds per game, No. 3 in total rebounds (36.1 rpg) and offensive rebounds (8.0). On the opposite half of the court, they are allowing its opponents 39.4 rpg, the second-lowest average in the league.
No team has made more shots at the free throw line (71) or holds a higher percentage at the stripe compared to Cal Maritime's .703 clip.
Coming off a split of its games played last weekend at Simpson, Cal Maritime will face a brief hiatus once Saturday's game concludes because it will not return to the court until it travels to Cal State Monterey Bay on December 9 for an exhibition matchup against the Otters.
Northwest will arrive to campus for the second head-to-head game between the two in program history. These teams first met in Vallejo on December 3, 2016, in a game the Eagles won by a score of 80-55.
As was the case with the Keelhaulers, Northwest split its two games played last weekend, albeit not in Redding. After falling to Linfield, the Eagles ended their brief Oregon road trip with a five-point win against Lewis & Clark College (where senior guard Emily Newton last played before transferring to Cal Maritime).
