KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Senior Natalie So and junior Jake Banich earned NAIA Scholar-Athlete distinction when the national organization announced it list of women's and men's golf recipients.
So, a Vacaville, California native, is the inaugural cadet-athlete in the program's history to earn this award; Banich, who hails from Dublin, California, collected his team's second all-time Scholar-Athlete award and the first since the NAIA bestowed this honor to Andrew Manning in 2017.
To qualify for this award, an institution's head coach or sports information director must submit a nomination and verify that student-athletes possess a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale. Nominees must appear on their team's eligibility certificate for the sport and attend respective institutions for one full year.
