VALLEJO, Calif – For the second time this season, Cal Maritime will head to Southern California for a pair of Cal Pac Conference games when it faces La Sierra and Providence Christian throughout the team's final set of road games for the year.
Thursday's kickoff in Riverside is set for 5 p.m.; women's soccer is the opening game of Saturday's doubleheader, slated to begin at 10 a.m.
Cal Maritime is the first of three opponents that will face the Golden Eagles on their upcoming three-game season-ending homestand — a bloc of games that will ultimately determine La Sierra's postseason fate. Entering the week in eighth place with a shot of advancing to the Cal Pac's postseason tournament, the Keeelhaulers can prevent LSU from winning its third game within the last four played and thwart a potential postseason appearance with the right result.
Before dropping last Sunday's game at Soka, the Golden Eagles won two straight to begin their climb up the league standings.
Two days later, CSUM will end the weekend in Pasadena with its final road game of the season against Providence Christian. As is the case with their game at La Sierra, the Keelhaulers will face another opportunity to play the role of spoilers since this game is the Sea Beggars' Senior Game.
Once women's soccer returns home later that day, preparations for the final games of the season will begin for players and coaches, two games scheduled for Thursday and Saturday, at Bodnar Field, versus Simpson (7 p.m.) and UC Merced (1 p.m.).
