Oaklanders defeat Keelhaulers

VALLEJO, Calif. – Cal Maritime wrapped up a two match homestand as they took on Lincoln University (CA) at Bodnar Field. The Oaklanders defeated the Keelhaulers 4-0. 

The Oaklanders would get on the scoreboard in the sixth minute as Courtney Van House scored to give the visitors a 1-0 lead. In the 31st minute, the Oaklanders would add to their lead as Bianca Coad scored. The last chance for the Keelhaulers to score came in the 39th minute but Kaitlyn Medina's shot was saved by Oaklanders' goalie Geneva Williams. The Oaklanders led 2-0 at halftime.

In the second half, Lincoln would add to their lead in the 46th minute as Yvette Moreno would score to give the Oaklanders a 3-0 advantage. Lincoln would convert their final tally of the half in the 48th minute on a Madeline Moore strike to give the Oaklanders a 4-0 lead. The final chance to score for the Keelhaulers came in the 69th minute but Ciara Kelly's shot was just high.

Amanda Carvalho had a season high three shots and Kate McGowan had seven saves for the Keelhaulers.

The Keelhaulers will head to Southern California for a pair of California Pacific Conference matches. The next match for the Keelhaulers will be Thursday as they take on Providence Christian College in Pasadena. Kickoff is set for 10 a.m.
