All-Cal Pac distinction bestowed to Amanda Carvalho, Kaitlyn Medina, Ciara Kelly and Kate McGowan
VALLEJO, Calif. – Four members of Cal Maritime's women's soccer team were honored by league officials on Wednesday when they released the lists of student-athletes that comprised this year's All-Cal Pac Team. On the league's Honorable Mention squad were Amanda Carvalho, Kaitlyn Medina Ciara Kelly and Kate McGowan.
This is the first time each player received all-conference recognition in their respective college careers.
Carvalho, a graduate student, scored twice this season for the Keelhaulers and found the back of the net if their road games at Lincoln (CA) and at Menlo. Those were two of her six shots on goal out of 10 attempts.
Medina and Kelly, both freshmen, started every game played this year for first-year head coach Mike Bielski. The former was a defensive stalwart in midfield and recorded three shots, the latter finished the season with three goals, two assists, 22 shots and 13 shots on goal — all team highs.
In her 13 games in goal, McGowan collected 168 saves, the highest total for a Cal Pac goalkeeper that doubled as the third highest in the nation. After her first year at CSUM, McGowan now ranks third all-time in school history in saves and fourth in saves per game (12.9).
