Cal Maritime Women's Waterpolo begins Season

The Keelhauler women's waterpolo team begins its season this Saturday February 11 at the Cunningham Aquatic complex in Vallejo.

The women's schedule looks to be highly competitive for the young squad. The team is anchored by local Fairfield High graduate Nikol Eddy, another Fairfield local senior Kristin Moody, returnees Suzanne Swader, Kayla D'Ambrosia and newcomer Lauren Grasdahl.

Head Coach Adam Phillipe hopes the team will become seasoned quickly to match up against tough opponents such as UC Davis A & B Teams, UC Santa Cruz, CAL and St. Mary's.

Asked about the team's strengths, Coach Phillipe replied that "with an inexperienced team we really have to focus on technique. If we can keep are head about us and work on the little things through the weekend, we will be able to grow into a well rounded team in no time."

The Cal Maritime Tournament begins with the Lady Keelhaulers taking on the UC Davis "A" team at 10:00 then turning around and matching up against St Mary's College at 2:15. The tournament runs through Sunday with Cal Maritime playing at 12:30 and 4:30. Come out and support your local Keelhaulers!
