VALLEJO, Calif. – Cal Maritime's postseason run will take place in a familiar location since Sierra Pacific Division teams will visit PEAC Pool this weekend to battle for this year's women's water polo championship. In addition to earning league hardware, the event's winner will represent the Sierra Pacific Division at the national tournament, hosted by Texas A&M May 3-5, as the recipient of its automatic bid.

In the opening match of the weekend, slated for 9:15 a.m. on Saturday, the Keelhaulers will battle Cal; their second match of the day is scheduled for 2:40 p.m. against UC Davis (A).

As one of five teams that comprise the tournament's Bracket A, positive results will push CSUM into a position to battle for the league's title since the first-place team, within this grouping following Saturday's action, will advance to Sunday's 1:35 p.m. championship match.

Cal Maritime enters this weekend on a roll after winning eight straight games and back-to-back tournament championships.

In the first of those tournaments, hosted by CSUM at PEAC Pool, women's water polo scored twice as many goals combined (34-17) compared to its opponents; the following week saw the Keelhaulers' offense continue to shine as it scored 36 times throughout its four games played in Santa Cruz and allowed a collective 19.

Cal Maritime has not faced either of its first two postseason opponents, Cal and UC Davis (A), this season. The Golden Bears won three of eight games played throughout the regular season with the Aggies, as was the case with Cal Maritime, winning all eight played against league opponents.

This is women's water polo's first Sierra Pacific Division Championship appearance since 2019.

Regardless of how Cal Maritime fares in its home pool this weekend, one tournament will take place following the Sierra Pacific Division playoffs: The NAIA Tournament is scheduled for April 13-14 at PEAC Pool.
