VALLEJO, Calif. – Following a successful showing at the PUC Pioneer Invitational, a meet that saw Cal Maritime nearly sweep both podiums by posting the top three times on the women's side, and two of three for the men, cross country will return to Rocklin for its next race, the Warrior Invitational.
Hosted by William Jessup on its On Campus Course, the Keelhaulers will return to a familiar environment since its season-opening meet, the William Jessup Invitational, took place at the same location. That day, the men finished fifth and the women recorded individual results.
This is Cal Maritime's final tune-up before the Cal Pac Men's and Women's Cross Country Championship takes place on November 4 in Fresno; this weekend's race is a perfect opportunity for both teams to continue building momentum for the league's year-end postseason event.
For the Warrior Invitational, the women will run two laps around a 1.1-mile course — there is a 56-foot elevation change — consisting of decomposed granite and dirt. The men will cover that loop three-and-a-half times to cover the race's distance.
The Cal Pac will hold its Cross Country Championship one week from next Friday at Woodward Park in Fresno.
