FRESNO, Calif. – Led by Nick Yarusso, who finished 21st with a time of 28:29.30 at Woodward Park's 8K course, Cal Maritime's men's team finished fourth at the Cal Pac Cross Country Championship. Friday's race, which took place in Fresno at the same location for the second year in a row, also saw Julia Mast lead the women's squad with a 25:39.40 to finish 40th.

A pair of Keelhaulers in Mele Tuimaunei and Safari Frisell crossed the finish line after one another following Mast's finish, to finish 44th and 45th by recording respective times of 26:25.90 and 26:55.14.

Raven Frisell and Sarai Alonso completed Cal Maritime's scoring contingent by posting a 30:57.38 and 41:41.30, finishing 54th and 61st within a  field that saw Embry-Riddle's Josephine Gregory capture an individual title by finishing first.

As was the case with the women, Yarusso and Michael Lapinski crossed the line one after the other when the former clocked a 28:29.30 and the latter finished with a time of 28:39.14 — the 22nd- and 23rd-fastest results within a deep men's field.

The next Keelhauler to finish was Trevor Hodges, who finished 35th at 29:58.84. Twenty-six seconds separated the next pair of Cal Maritime runners, Harry Bragg and Stefan Schwiesow, who finished 38th (30:33.00) and 39th (30:59.43) to complete the team's scoring group.

Another eight harriers competed in the Cal Pac Championship, a group that includes 40. Kye McKeown (40th), Andrew Scannell (52nd), Reid Zieber (56th), Logan Flaxington (57th), Caleb Silbernagel (58th), Ben Handy (59th), David Rico (61st) and Jose Carreon (62nd).

In addition to winning an individual crown, Embry-Riddle also earned both team titles over event host UC Merced, a squad that finished second in both races. Rounding out the top three were Park Gilbert on the women's side and Soka for the men.

UC Merced's Jonathan Chavez earned individual honors for the men as the fastest runner in that field.
