Six cross country cadets earn NAIA Scholar-Athlete distinction

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Six Cal Maritime cross country cadet-athletes, three from each team, earned Scholar-Athlete honors when the organization announced its men's and women's award recipients for 2022.

When unveiled, Sarai Alonso, Raven Frisell and Safari Frisell earned national recognition from the Keelhaulers' women's team; the men were represented by Nolan Bronstrup, Andrew Scannell and Reid Zieber.

The 2022 list features 467 student-athletes that achieved at least a 3.5 cumulative grade point average (GPA) at their institution. In order to earn a nomination from a head coach or sports information director, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale, must appear on the eligibility certificate for the sport and have attended one full year at that institution
