FRESNO, Calif. – Freshman Colby Allen and senior Mia Rathsack led Cal Maritime's men's and women's cross country teams as the first to finish their respective races at Monday's California Pacific Conference Cross Country Championship, hosted by UC Merced at Woodward Park in Fresno, California.

Allen completed the men's 8k course in 29:20.95 with Rathsack completing the women's 6k route with a time of 29:40.77 as their respective teams finished fourth and eighth overall.

Shortly after all racing concluded, California Pacific Conference officials announced their Champions of Character selections, honors bestowed to Anjali Sharma and Caleb Silbernagel.

The next pair of men to finish and score points following Allen were Michael Lapinski (29:30.65) and Israel Monroy-Hernandez (29:55.21) as they finished one behind the other in 26th and 27th place.

Kye McKeown (31:52.69) crossed the line less than two minutes later to finish 32nd; Nolan Bronstrup was the last Keelhauler to record team points when he completed his run in 34th with a time of 31:56.46.

Finishing right behind Bronstrup was Andrew Scannell (33:00.63); Silbernagel (37:32.27), Eli Lemos (40:58.98) and Jacob Gutierrez (43:34.15) as they ended their morning shortly thereafter in 40th, 41st and 45th place.

Rathsack was the first to finish for the women, completing her 6k run — this year's postseason event was the first time that distance was incorporated — 29:40.77. Her 35th-place result was posted shortly before Safari Frisell (30:13.91) became the 35th runner to finish.

Only eight individuals separated CSUM's final group of scorers: Sharma (31:14.26) led this trio by ending her morning in 40th place followed by Laura Shoaf (31:41.54) and Sophia Gomez' (34:00.71) 43rd- and 48th-place result.

Embry-Riddle swept the team titles as the men collected their 10th championship in a row with the women winning their ninth straight.

The Eagles' Josey Gregory won the league's inaugural 6k race, earning an individual championship for the second straight year; UC Merced's Jonathan Chavez thwarted an ERAU sweep of all titles by posting the fasted time (24:18) in a Cal Pac Championship event.
