ROCKLIN, Calif. – Divine Nwoko hit 3 of 4 shots and Landon Courtman connected on 4 of 5 field goal attempts in Tuesday's non-conference game in Rocklin and finished with nine and eight points in the second head-to-head game, in as many weeks, between Cal Maritime and William Jessup — a team that received votes in the NAIA's recent national poll.
By hitting two of his four baskets from three, Tomas Gomez-España led all Keelhaulers with 10 points.
Tied at six apiece at Warrior Arena midway through the first half, the host Warriors took the lead for good by scoring 14 unanswered points to defeat the Keelhaulers, 87-58, and remain undefeated in their four home games played this season.
With Tuesday's result, Cal Maritime fell to 2-4 and will return to action on Sunday, November 28, when it hosts Eastern Oregon in a 2 p.m. non-conference matchup inside PEAC Main Gym.
William Jessup will continue its season at 8-1.
In addition to Nwoko, Amil Fields also scored nine points against the Warriors.
Cal Maritime out-rebounded William Jessup, 37-34 overall, and by a 14-4 margin on the offensive glass. Courtman and Trey Porter each finished with a team-high five boards with a trio of Keelhaulers in Fields, Eric Norton and Nwoko finishing with four apiece.
