VALLEJO, Calif. – Following a week filled with exams and papers, Cal Maritime will face an opportunity to celebrate the end of the semester by facing Southern Oregon in Tuesday's 2 p.m. non-conference matchup inside PEAC Main Gym. This game was originally scheduled for November 19 and moved to mid-December to ensure this game did not interfere with teams' respective finals week.

This matchup is the first since Dec. 13's home contest against William Jessup for the Keelhaulers, and provides an opportunity to remain in playing shape throughout Cal Maritime's holiday break. Once the final buzzer sounds on Tuesday, men's basketball will not return to action until December 28 when its Cal Pac hiatus ends with a 7:30 p.m. home game against UC Merced — the first of two league games taking place within a three-day timespan (the team will visit Simpson on the 31st) and the last home event until January 19.

Six home games will take place between CSUM's home conference game vs. UC Merced and its first of 2023, which takes place against Simpson.

Rust is the last thing Cal Maritime, and every other Cal Pac school, wants to experience during December's holiday break, which turns non-conference games like the one taking place inside PEAC Main Gym on Tuesday into vital opportunities to continue preparations for the heart of league play.

In their first three Cal Pac games of the season, the Keelhaulers collected victories on each occasion to earn a spot atop the league's standings throughout the inaugural weeks of the conference's schedule. Even losses suffered by the Keelhaulers took place in close contests since two of those final scores were decided by less than five points; the other three were one-possession games until respective opponents extended their final winning margin at the free throw line in the final minute of action.

Men's basketball will host a Southern Oregon squad that enters its post-finals schedule with a 4-4 overall record and league home games slated for Friday and Saturday against Evergreen and Northwest, both Washington-based schools.

The Raiders' trip to Vallejo is part of a three-game road swing that will continue Dec. 30 and 31 with Cascade Collegiate Conference matchups against Multnomah and Warner Pacific.

Prior to its finals break, SOU defeated Oregon Tech on its own court to prevent a three-game losing streak from forming after dropping previously played games at Eastern Oregon and No. 4 College of Idaho.

Led by Atmar Mundo and his 18.3 points per game scoring figure, four Raiders hold double-digit points averages heading into this week's action. In addition to the senior guard, senior guard Tez Allen (12.3 ppg), senior forward Josh Meyer (12.1 ppg) and senior guard Will Graves (11.5 ppg) comprise SOU's leading scorers on an experienced team that includes five seniors and six juniors out of the 17 players on its roster.
