VALLEJO, Calif. — After competing through a brutal non-conference schedule that included Division II opponents in three of its seven games played, Cal Maritime will compete in another three games, this time against NAIA competition, throughout a week-long timespan leading up to cadets' finals week.

The Keelhaulers will host Westcliff in Thursday's 7:30 p.m. Cal Pac Conference opener, followed by a quick turnaround since Saint Katherine will square off against CSUM at 3 p.m. on Saturday. The final home game of 2023 is set for Wednesday, December 6 at 7:30 p.m. when UC Merced visits PEAC Main Gym.

Following that matchup against the Bobcats, Cal Maritime will hit the road for its next six games, starting on December 8 at Simpson. The team will begin a 22-day hiatus once everyone returns from Redding due to finals and the holiday break since its next game will not take place until the 30th when men's basketball visits Pacific for an exhibition contest.

Once this Cal Pac homestand concludes, the team will not compete on its own floor until Benedictine Mesa visits campus on January 18.

Entering this week's string of home events, graduate students Everett Perrot and Lunden Taylor lead the Keelhaulers in scoring at 11.0 and 10.2 points per game with senior Shawn Kelly nearly averaging double figures at 9.4 ppg.

Perrot also leads the team in rebounding at 7.5 per game, Kelly ranks second  with his 5.0 rpg clip.

League play will begin against a Westcliff squad also seeking its first win of the season after dropping its last three played against Warner Pacific, Multnomah and Vanguard.

By comparison Saint Katherine's non-conference slate yielded different results since the Firebirds collected victories in five of six games, all taking place at home. That lone loss took place on November 11 at SAGU American Indian College, its first and only road game of the season.

Saint Katherine will visit Pacific Union on Friday before visiting PEAC Main Gym for Saturday's matinée.

Cal Maritime will end its first conference homestand against UC Merced, a local foe that split its four official non-conference games (a pair played at Anchorage Alaska, both losses, were exhibition matchups).

After splitting its last two played — they defeated Jessup last Tuesday before falling at Fresno Pacific on Saturday – the Bobcats will host La Sierra and Embry-Riddle for its inaugural set of Cal Pac contests.
