VALLEJO, Calif. – Cal Maritime outscored Westcliff in the fourth quarter of Thursday's Cal Pac opener at PEAC Main Gym, saw the visiting Warriors outscore it in the third quarter by only four, and remained within striking distance following the first 10 minutes of action.
Even though the Warriors secured a 76-58 victory, the Keelhaulers battled throughout the entire evening and saw four players score double figures in the first of three home conference contests within a seven-day timespan.
Alicia Porter led all Keelhaulers with 13 points and 14 rebounds, Anika Carey ended her evening with 12 points, Aysia Santos added another 11 and Lexy Wallace recorded her second double-digit point total in a CSUM uniform, in as many games, by matching her career high of 10 points.
Saint Katherine will visit campus for Saturday's 1 p.m. matchup, followed by Wednesday's 5:30 p.m. tilt against UC Merced. Once that game against the Bobcats concludes, the Keelhaulers will not compete on its home court until mid-January, due to finals week, a holiday break and U.S. Coast Guard exams taking place throughout PEAC.
Cal Maritime will continue its season at 0-4 overall and 0-1 during league play; Westcliff will end its Northern California road trip at Pacific Union and arrive to Angwin with records of 2-3 and 0-1.
