Lucky Hampton leads balanced and multi-faceted attack vs. La Sierra
VALLEJO, Calif. – Of the eight Keelhaulers that saw action in Thursday's Cal Pac Conference game at PEAC Main Gym, Lucky Hampton led a group of five players who finished in double figures by scoring 22 points — the second 20-point performance of his career — on 8 of 16 shooting overall and canning 3 of 4 attempts from three.
Alex Maze also hit the 20-point threshold for the second time as a Keelhauler by ending with that exact total; Daniel Andreyev posted a season-high 15 points with a perfect shooting performance: he hit all four attempts from the floor each of his seven shots at the stripe.
DJ Henry and DeAndre Minor recorded 12 and 10 points apiece with the former earning the inaugural double-double of his career by collecting 11 of CSUM's 21 assists.
Free throws ended up being the difference in a tight game that saw Cal Maritime erase an early 10-point deficit to take a four-point lead in the opening minutes of the second half as the Golden Eagles shot 17-for-22 at the stripe after halftime, compared to Cal Maritime's 9-for-19 stat line, to help La Sierra end the night with a 95-89 victory.
The Keelhaulers won the rebound battle by finishing with a plus-9 margin overall and nearly tripled LSU's offensive rebound total, 17-6, which led to 38 points in the paint.
