Keelhaulers edged by Soka in Cal Pac thriller

ALISO VIEJO, Calif. – Freshman Nikhil Hunter scored Cal Maritime's equalizer in the 60th minute of Friday's Cal Pac Conference game at Lions Den Soccer Stadium to pull the visiting Keelhaulers even with Soka, at 1-1, with a third of the match remaining. But it was Jesus Cabrera's goal, scored nine minutes later, that ultimately lifted the host Lions to a 2-1 victory.

Responsible for Cal Maritime's goal, Hunter also took both of his team's shots against its Orange County-based opposition.

By winning its second game in a row, Soka will continue its season at 2-5-3 overall and 2-2-1 in league play. Since this is the only game of the week for the Keelhaulers, they will now return home with records of 0-7 and 0-4 and enter a home-heavy month of October, starting with Thursday's 7 p.m. matchup at Bodnar Field against Antelope Valley.

Including their next four straight, seven of the Keelhaulers' final nine games of the season will take place in Vallejo.
