VALLEJO, Calif. – Following a road trip that saw the team cover more than 1,600 miles within a four-day timespan, Cal Maritime's travel throughout the upcoming weekend is slightly less by comparison since Benedictine Mesa and Park Gilbert are visiting campus for Cal Pac Conference games Friday night and Sunday afternoon at 7:30 p.m. and 1:30 p.m., respectively.
Also visiting Bodnar Field this weekend to participate in a pregame ceremony is Benicia Arsenal's U8 team.
Benedictine Mesa's Northern California road trip will begin in Vallejo and conclude two days later in Angwin against Pacific Union; the Redhawks will enter the weekend suffering one loss within the last five played.
Following a three-game win streak that includes results over Providence Christian, La Sierra and Arizona Christian, Benedictine Mesa tied UC Merced at one before ending a home-heavy portion of its schedule with a 2-0 loss to Simpson.
That victory versus Arizona Christian is the Redhawks' lone road win out of its four played so far this season.
Of the four head-to-head games, Benedictine Mesa won each of those matchups. Friday's game is their second overall trip to Vallejo and first since the 2018 season.
Two days later, the Keelhaulers' weekend homestand will conclude against a Park Gilbert squad that recorded opposite results within its last five played, compared to Benedictine Mesa's recent results.
Of its last five games, the Buccaneers won one; the other four results include two draws and a pair of losses.
Led by junior forward Ashton Owen with four, 10 different Buccaneers scored at least one goal this season.
Four of Park Gilbert's next five games will take place on the road, starting with Friday's contest at UC Merced. Following next Sunday's game vs. Antelope Valley, the Buccaneers will visit Providence Christian and Benedictine Mesa before ending the season with a pair of matches on its home turf.
Following this weekend's homestand, Cal Maritime will head to UC Santa Cruz on Tuesday, October 3, for its final non-conference road event of the year.
A couple of local contests will take place as the week continues with Providence Christian squaring off against the Keelhaulers at Bodnar Field on Thursday, October 5 (5 p.m.) before CSUM heads to UC Merced three days later for a 5:30 p.m. Cal Pac clash.
