Keelhaulers draw Cal in Sierra Pacific Conference's championship game

VALLEJO, Calif.  Cal Maritime opened the Sierra Pacific Conference Championship Tournament in impressive fashion, thanks to a 22-1 victory versus UC Merced Saturday morning, but it was its second victory of the day that thrilled the crowd at PEAC Pool in Vallejo, California, since that clinched a berth in Sunday's 12:30 p.m. championship game.

Tied at 7-7 against UC Davis in their second game of the day, senior Brandon Kolarov scored the game-winning goal with 13 seconds remaining, capping his team's come-from-behind effort to lift the Keelhaulers over the Aggies and earn the right to battle Cal for the Sierra Pacific Conference's berth in next month's National Club Championship in Huntsville, Alabama.

Cal Maritime entered the fourth period trailing UC Davis, 7-5, and did not allow a goal for the rest of the day.

Admission is free for Sunday's slate of games, which will begin at PEAC at 9 a.m. The tournament's Third Place Game is set for 10:10 a.m., following by an 11:20 consolation matchup.
