Game 6
Cal Maritime Keelhaulers (0-5)
at
UC Santa Cruz Banana Slugs (4-1)
Friday, Nov. 19 – 7 p.m.
West Field House – Santa Cruz, Calif.
VALLEJO, Calif. – Following a hectic four days that included three games and a trip to San Diego, Cal Maritime will remain local for its next non-conference game when it heads to UC Santa Cruz for Friday's 7 p.m. matchup.
Once the Keelhaulers return to Vallejo Friday night, they will begin a lengthy break that spans Thanksgiving and continues until December 11 when Oregon Tech visits PEAC Main Gym for a 1 p.m. contest, as part of the team's weekend-long Keelhauler Classic tournament.
For now, head coach Denise Bennett and her cadet-athletes are focused on this week's lone game, taking place against a Banana Slugs squad that won the last four head-to-head meetings. In addition to snapping this streak against UC Santa Cruz, Cal Maritime will look to collect its first victory of the season against a team that won three of its its first four games of the year, each taking place on the road.
The Banana Slugs' week vs. Cal Pac teams opened Wednesday against Pacific Union in a 2021-22 home opener they won by an 84-47 score. Four players finished in double figures and UCSC never trailed that night.
Following the Keelhaulers' visit, UC Santa Cruz will take on UC Merced on Dec. 3. Friday's game against Cal Maritime is the second of nine straight taking place at West Field House or Kaiser Permanente Arena, UC Santa Cruz' home facilities.
