SANTA CRUZ, Calif. – Kai Kraus hit 44 percent of her shots from the floor in Friday night's non-conference contest at West Field House in Santa Cruz, California, and ended her night with a perfect shooting performance at the free throw line by connecting on all eight of her attempts. Marissa Serrano added another 13 points by hitting three of her four baskets from three, in addition to sinking both shots from the stripe; Dylan Fulton led all players with 10 rebounds and singlehandedly collected nearly one-third of her team's 34 rebounds.
But it was the host Banana Slugs that led from start to finish to earn an 84-57 win over the Keelhaulers.
Cal Maritime will now enter a lengthy break that ends on Saturday, December 11, when it hosts Oregon Tech in a 1 p.m. matchup that is part of the Keelhauler Classic — a three-day tournament that opens on Friday, December 10 with a 3 p.m. neutral-site contest between Oregon Tech and UC Merced — and return to action with a 0-6 overall record.
The weekend-long event will end on Sunday, December 12, with a 5 p.m. tipoff vs. Southern Oregon; every Keelhauler Classic game will take place inside PEAC Main Gym.
UC Santa Cruz will continue its season-long homestand with a 4-1 record.
