VALLEJO, Calif. — Following non-conference action that took place throughout the first weeks of November, Cal Maritime will enter the second portion of its season on Thursday when it opens Cal Pac Conference play against Westcliff.

Tipoff inside PEAC Main Gym for this league opener versus the Warriors is set for 5:30 p.m.

The team's season-long five-game homestand will continue on Saturday with a 1 p.m. matchup against Saint Katherine and end on Wednesday, December 6 at 5:30 p.m. when UC Merced visits Vallejo.

These games are the final opportunities for CSUM women's basketball fans to support their team at home because it will open a seven-game road swing, starting December 8 at Simpson, and not host another event inside PEAC until January 18 against Benedictine Mesa.

Included in that block of road contests is an exhibition event at Pacific (Dec. 20) and a designated home game taking place at Pacific Union (Jan. 11), due to U.S. Coast Guard exams held at PEAC's main and auxiliary gyms.

Cal Maritime fans will become part of an exciting opportunity this season when graduate student Alicia Porter chases Lauren Westbrook (1,480) for the No. 1 spot as the program's all-time scorer. Porter enters the final home games of 2023 with 1,138 career points, 342 shy of Westbrook's total of 1,480.

Westcliff enters its Cal Pac opener at 1-3 overall after picking up its victory in early November against Menlo at the Jessup Tournament.

Saint Katherine dropped four of its last five played, earning its lone victory within that block of action at home on November 13, against Bethesda, and will square off against Pacific Union on Friday in its conference opener.

UC Merced will enter its league schedule with a 1-4 overall record after opening the season with a win against Wilberforce University (OH) in its season opener. Since that result, the Bobcats dropped four straight and will host La Sierra and Embry-Riddle in their inaugural set of Cal Pac contests.
