VALLEJO, Calif. – For the first time since December 6, Cal Maritime women's basketball fans enjoyed an opportunity to cheer for their team in person, at PEAC Main Gym, when the Keelhaulers opened a three-game homestand Thursday night against Benedictine Mesa.
Fans in attendance witnessed Dylan Fulton score a season-high 21 points, on 8 of 13 shooting from the floor, and nearly post a double-double since she and Alicia Porter finished with a team-high nine rebounds.
Thursday's game marked the fourth time in her career that Fulton finished with 20 or more points.
Cal Maritime scored half of its points in the paint, but the visiting Redhawks outscored the Keelhaulers, 18-8 in the third quarter, to extend their halftime lead in a game it ultimately won by a 69-48 score.
The Keelhaulers will enter Saturday's 2 p.m. Cal Pac home clash against Park Gilbert with momentum since they outscored the Redhawks in the fourth quarter.
"We enjoyed a good start, but lost a little steam in the second quarter," said head coach Imhotet Amen-Ra.
"We still put up a good fight even though we played flat at times. This is one of those games where you take the loss, watch film, learn, and prepare for our next game."
