Keelhaulers drop weekend opener at Life Pacific

SAN DIMAS, Calif. – Tamana Sharifi notched the first double-double of the season for Cal Maritime in Saturday's road game in San Dimas by finishing with a team-high 12 points, on 5 of 6 shooting overall and hitting two of her three shots from three, and a game-high 10 rebounds — one-fourth of her team's total.

Aysia Santos finished in double figures but was held to 11 points as Life Pacific took the inaugural head-to-head meeting between the teams, 42-57.

Cal Maritime's defense shined in that second period as it held Life Pacific shot 3-for-18 from the floor and 1-for-8 from distance. That effort erased a six-point deficit following the first quarter and enabled it to lead by two at halftime.

The game was decided in the third quarter when the host Warriors outscored Cal Maritime by 13 and held onto that lead for the rest of the evening.

Women's basketball will end its weekend in Riverside against La Sierra, tipoff is scheduled for 1 p.m.
