Rathsack scores again, Dack finishes with 15 saves at Sierra Nevada

TAHOE VISTA, Calif. - Mia Rathsack found the back of the net for the second time in as many days when Cal Maritime completed a challenging 18 hours of soccer with Friday afternoon's game at Sierra Nevada.

After wrapping-up a season-opening three-match homestand last night at Bodnar Field, the Keelhaulers hit the road to compete against the Eagles in a matchup originallly scheduled for Sept. 23. And when action began at North Tahoe Regional Park, the Eagles scored in the seventh and 30th minute to take an early 2-0 lead.

Four minutes later, Rathsack chopped the Keelhaulers' deficit in half by recording an unassisted goal; that 2-1 score remained untouched until halftime, and for nearly another 20 minutes of action in the second half, until Sierra Nevada scored four straight to pull away and defeat Cal Maritime, 6-1.

"I am happy that we scored in consecutive games, those were two great finishes by Mia and a pair of great team goals. We are learning to get our legs under, our fitness level needs to improve to keep us competitive across both halves," said head coach Emily Scheese.

Friday's game against the Eagles is the first of four straight that will take place on the road for women's soccer; its road swing will continue in Southern California next week at Saint Katherine on October 15 and continue at Westcliff on October 17. Kickoff for those Cal Pac matches are set for 12:30 p.m. and 2 p.m., respectively.
