CARLSBAD, Calif. – Cal Maritime visited Aviara Community Park in Carlsbad Friday afternoon in the first of two road games, taking place throughout Southern California this weekend, to face Saint Katherine.
Maddy Dack ended her afternoon with 17 saves but an early goal gave the Firebirds the lead for good in a non-conference California Pacific Conference matchup that ended in the SK's favor by a 9-0 result, which dropped the Keelhaulers' record to 0-5 and pushed the Firebirds' overall mark to 8-4.
Even though both programs compete in the Cal Pac, this was a designated non-conference affair since Cal Maritime and Saint Katherine do not compete within the same division.
The Keelhaulers will visit Great Park in Irvine for Sunday's 2 p.m. matchup vs. Westcliff before returning to Vallejo. The team's current four-game road swing will conclude on Friday, October 22 at UC Merced.
