VALLEJO, Calif. – Women's soccer's season-opening five-match road swing will conclude this weekend when it heads to Angwin to battle rival Pacific Union in a 3:30 p.m. Cal Pac clash at PUC Field. Following that contest, the Keelhaulers will host Holy Names, a Division II program, in Tuesday's 2022 home opener.

Also taking place at Bodnar Field that evening is Cal Maritime Athletics' celebration of Title IX's 50th anniversary, landmark legislation that protects people from discrimination based on sex in education programs or activities that receive federal financial assistance.

Cadets who arrive to Bodnar Field and show a valid Port Pass for Tuesday's event will receive a free t-shirt, while supplies last.

Title IX bars federally funded education programs and activities from discriminating on the basis of sex. Its enactment tasked public schools with creating equitable opportunities for women to participate in sports, investing in scholarships for men and women proportional to their participation, and treating male and female student athletes equally. It's a revolutionary policy that shaped gender equity in education and sports — legislation that continues to positively impact millions of lives each year.

Cal Maritime's longest string of road games this season will conclude in Angwin against a PUC squad also seeking its first Cal Pac victory of 2022. Following its 4-1 win over Bushnell in their season opener, the Pioneers lost the next seven played and will look to end that streak in Thursday's conference home game vs. Park Gilbert.

Of Pacific Union's eight games played this year, leading up to its matchup against the Buccaneers, five took place on the road.

Two days later, Holy Names will visit campus to compete in the Keelhaulers' inaugural home of the season — a contest that doubles as the Hawks' final match before hosting its conference home opener the following week.

As a member of the Pac West Conference, HNU competes at the Division II level.

Of the eight non-conference games leading up to its league slate — Holy Names will face Fresno Pacific in its PacWest opener on Saturday before briefly returning to non-conference action — Cal Maritime is the third Cal Pac school to  square off against the Hawks. Earlier this year, they defeated Simpson, 2-0, and Pacific Union by a 1-0 result.
