VALLEJO, Calif. – After opening the 2022 season in Rocklin last weekend at the William Jessup Invite, Cal Maritime's men's and women's cross country teams will compete in their second meet, in as many weeks, when it heads to Angwin for the 2022 PUC Pioneer Cross Country Invitational, hosted by Pacific Union.
The women's 4k race will commence at 10 a.m. with the men hitting the 6k course at 11 a.m.
Known for its challenging terrain, runners will face an open meadow, dirt roads and a forest while covering Pacific Union's circular course — one that features an elevation change of nearly 300 feet.
The top five individuals on each team will score, the top five overall individuals will receive awards.
Cal Maritime's Lauren Silva holds the 4k course record (17:55); PUC's Justin Roosma is responsible for the men's course record (20:33).
This race last took place in March of 2021; that afternoon, the Keelhaulers finished second and third in the women's and men's races, respectively.
