VALLEJO, Calif. – Nico de Simas recorded a shot on goal on his birthday, including an early laser that was somehow redirected to safety by Multnomah's goalkeeper to prevent Cal Maritime from recording the first goal of Saturday's season opener at Bodnar Field, Fuego Onofeghara-Omoko also recorded a shot on frame and Noah Anderson recorded his first strike of the season.
But it was a goal scored by the Lions in the first half that ended up becoming the game-winner in a non-conference matchup won by MU, 4-0.
Multnomah will return home to open conference play next week with a 2-2 overall record, the Keelhaulers will head to Jessup for Wednesday's 4 p.m. road contest at 0-1.
In his debut game in goal for CSUM, Fabian Garcia collected five saves for a squad that will return to Bodnar Field next Sunday to host Soka in its Cal Pac Conference opener.
