Diaz, Hunter score twice in Keelhaulers' 5-1 win

VALLEJO, Calif. –
The Keelhaulers returned home to the friendly confines of Bodnar Field as they took on Providence Christian College and scored four second-half goals en route to a 5-1 victory over the visiting Sea Beggars.

In the first half, the Keelhaulers spent a grand majority of the first half in their offensive zone. The Keelhaulers outshot the Sea Beggars, 13-2, and saw that offensive onslaught pay off when Luka Bilaver scored on a header, off a corner kick on the near sideline, to give the CSUM a 1-0 lead that carried over to the second half.

When action resumed, the Sea Beggars tied the match in the 63rd minute as Spencer Hillner converted a penalty kick to pull his team even.

However, in the 77th minute, Jose Diaz scored the match-winning goal off an assist from Nikhil Hunter. Seven minutes later, it was Hunter who scored off assists from Nico de Simas and Hector Carcamo. In the 88th minute, Diaz notched his second of the match and in the 89th, Hunter earned his brace by earning the Keelhaulers' final tally of the evening.

Connor Wadhams had a match-high seven shots for the Keelhaulers and three players had two shots apiece for the Sea Beggars. Nathan Witte picked up the win for and Richie Cortes suffered the loss for the Sea Beggars.

Cal Maritime finished with a season-high 28 shots to the Sea Beggars' 11, capturing its second head-to-head victory in a row in the process.

The Keelhaulers will now hit the road for their three matches, starting with Sunday's 5:30 p.m. Cal Pac contest at UC Merced.
