VALLEJO, Calif. - The Keelhaulers opened their final homestand of the season Friday night when La Sierra visited Bodnar Field in CSUM's penultimate Cal Pac Conference match of the season.
Even though the visiting Golden Eagles struck first in the opening minute, Jose Diaz pulled Cal Maritime event on a one-time opportunity that originated from Luka Bilaver.
However, Anthony Antunez gave the Golden Eagles the lead for good in the 19th minute before extending it nime minutes later on a penalty kick kick goal by Rafael Rivera. Rivera would score his second of the match in the 34th minute to extend the Golden Eagles' lead to 4-1 at the break.
In the second half, the Keelhaulers would come out of the halftime intermission on the attack offensively. The Keelhaulers had five shots in the first fifteen minutes of clock time in the second half but could not find the back of the net. The Golden Eagles would get their final tally of the match in the 82nd minute off the foot of Daniel Romero, which ultimately became the game's final score: 5-1.
The Keelhaulers will return to Bodnar Field on Sunday morning with an overall record of 1-13 and 1-10 mark against Cal Pac foes as they take on Lincoln University (CA) at 11 a.m.
La Sierra will continue its Northern California road trip at 5-6-3 and 3-5-2.
