VALLEJO, Calif. –
Cal Maritime will begin its season-opening five-game road swing, the longest string of action outside of Vallejo this year, when it squares off against Multnomah University in Friday's 11 a.m. season opener. Women's soccer's visit to Portland will continue the following day at Warner Pacific in a 5 p.m. non-conference contest at Eastside Timbers Sports Complex.

Links to follow the action against the Lions and Knights were not available at the time of this release; if provided by either school, fans of the Keelhaulers can access them by visiting the Athletics Department Facebook or Twitter accounts.

College soccer fans need to know about one important rule change, involving overtime, that starts this season: If the score is tied at the end of regulation, the game is officially considered a draw. Overtime, and double overtime (if needed), will only take place during postseason competition.

Following a pair of early August scrimmages, the Lions will host the Keelhaulers in their home opener after starting the 2022 campaign with a trio of road games. After losing 2-0 to fellow Cal Pac colleague Simpson, Linfield and George Fox secured victories over MU by respective scores of 11-1 and 8-0.

As is the case with its matchup at Multnomah, CSUM's game at Warner Pacific is the inaugural head-to-head contest since this is the program's first trip to Oregon.

The 2022 campaign started on a positive note in late August for the Knights, thanks to a 1-0 home win over Arizona Christian. However, Warner Pacific suffered a 4-0 loss at Willamette the very next game before returning home for its longest non-conference homestand of the season. Following a scoreless tie versus Linfield last Saturday, Pacific University left Eastside Timbers Complex on Tuesday with a 3-1 victory.

Following its matchup against Cal Maritime, WP will conclude its current homestand on Monday against San Diego Christian College.

Once the Keelhaulers return home, they will have a handful of days to prep for their first pair of Cal Pac games, starting with next Friday's (Sept. 16) game at Benedictine Mesa. That trip through Arizona concludes two days later at Park University Gilbert (Sept. 18) before the last of five straight on the road will take place at local rival Pacific Union (Sept. 25).
