VALLEJO, Calif. – Cal Maritime will encounter a unique situation when its season-opening five-game road swing continues this weekend, against two Arizona-based league teams, since each of the Keelhaulers' first two Cal Pac Conference games of 2022 will take place at the same location.

Friday's 6 p.m. conference opener, against Benedictine Mesa, is set for Field 19 at Bell Bank Park, the same multi-sport athletic complex Park Gilbert (Sunday's 11 a.m. opponent) calls home.

As is the case with the Keelhaulers, Ben U will compete in its inaugural league event of 2022 when action begins on Friday. The Redhawks will enter that game following Tuesday's 2-1 win at Arizona Christian, the last of three straight road games on a trip that ended with a 1-1-1 record.

Benedictine Mesa already played as many games at home this season as the Keelhaulers have overall; the latter opened its season with the program's first-ever road trip to Oregon, which included stops at Multnomah and Warner Pacific last weekend. The Redhawks split their first two home games of the season by earning a 3-0 win vs. Clarke University, followed by a 2-0 loss to Ottawa University – Arizona.

Two days after its first trip to Bell Bank Park, CSUM will battle the Park Gilbert Buccaneers — a team that opened its season with a 10-0 victory at Indiana University-South Bend. Before returning home from Indiana, the Buccaneers posted a 1-1 tie, followed by four consecutive losses to Clarke University and Ottawa University – Arizona at home. The last two games took Park to Cal Tech and Saint Katherine for the team's final non-conference contest and inaugural Cal Pac game of the season. Both ended in shutout losses.

Friday's game at Ben U is the third all-time head-to-head matchup' Sunday's game is the first meeting between the Keelhaulers and Buccaneers.
