VALLEJO, Calif. – Cal Maritime will kick-off the 2023 season at home this weekend when Multnomah visits Bodnar Field for Saturday's 11 a.m. non-conference matchup in Vallejo.
This matchup will serve as the only tune-up for the Keelhaulers before Cal Pac Conference play commences since they will head to Simpson on Friday, September 15, before hosting Soka at Bodnar two days later in their inaugural pair of league contests.
Cal Maritime's season opener also doubles as the debut game for freshmen Riley Tintle and Hayden Carter; representing CSUM for the first time in their respective careers are newcomers Keirra Scollard and Maria Djaya; returning to the program after a brief hiatus are Brittany Holloway and Sarai Alonso.
Seven members from last year's roster return for sixth-year head coach Emily Scheese — Amanda Carvalho, Kate Dabrow, Vonne Ng-Bader, Mia Rathsack, Madalyn Reynolds, Maya Sortor and Erika Tam — providing on-field experience and valuable leadership qualities needed to help the team's new players adjust to the rigors of college soccer while successfully balancing their academic coursework.
After playing two of its first three games on campus, women's soccer will embark on its first road trip of the season when it heads to Embry-Riddle and Westcliff for another pair of Cal Pac clashes on September 22 and 24.
